Bears Ears Summer Camp: June 19-21

Jump start your kid's summer at Bears Ears Summer Camp, June 19-21, 2025!
Session 2, June 19-21, 2025 is available to local San Juan County and/or Indigenous youth 13-17 years old.
Bears Ears Summer Camp includes three days and two nights of rafting the San Juan River from Sand Island to Mexican Hat, day-hiking in Bears Ears National Monument, and sharing Indigenous Knowledge. Participants will raft, hike, and camp while building connection to place and each other. All meals included.
**Registration is FREE for San Juan County or Indigenous Youth.** If eligible, use code "Local" when registering.

Bears Ears Education Center Seasonal Closure
The Bears Ears Education Center will be temporary closed during the hottest part of the season:
CLOSED all of July and August 1st–6th
Open Thursday, August 7th
CLOSED August 8th and 9th
Open August 10th and 11th.
Then the Center will resume the normal schedule: open Thursday through Monday 9-4pm, closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Pecos Conference

Bears Ears Partnership has stepped forward to organize and host the 2025 Pecos Conference, August 7-10. This annual conference is an opportunity to share the latest updates on archaeology in the US Southwest and northern Mexico.

August Star Party and Dark Sky Ambassador Kick-off Event

Join us for our next monthly star party with telescope viewing, and the kick-off event for our NEW Dark Sky Ambassador program, on Saturday, August 23 at the Bluff Community Center.
Come at 8pm to learn more about the Dark Sky Ambassador program, and the public star party will begin at 8:30pm. The Dark Sky Ambassador program will train dark sky enthusiasts to monitor light pollution, telescope operation, and more.
Come enjoy Bluff's spectacular dark skies and learn more about how you can get involved in protecting them!
100 Years of Silence Special Presentation: "The Aniknuche Incarceration"

Join us at the Bears Ears Education Center for a free, public talk on Thursday, August 28 at 7pm about the 100 Years of Silence project, which commemorates the hundred-year-plus anniversary of the forcible removal of Ute people from the Bears Ears area.
The exhibit will be on display at the BEEC starting August 28 until October, and is open to the public during the BEEC’s hours (Thursday-Monday 9am-4pm).
