Ambassadors

The increased attention and visitation to the Bears Ears region over the past several years has caused damage to natural and cultural resources. In an effort to mitigate existing damage and prevent future harm, our volunteer Visit with Respect Ambassadors help us monitor natural and cultural sites, document visitation patterns, and spread the Visit with Respect principles to visitors in Bears Ears.

We use the information collected by our Ambassadors to help drive decisions about our work. We also share this information with our partners to help make decisions about management planning for Bears Ears National Monument and increase awareness of Visit with Respect.

Interested in becoming an Ambassador?

Join us as a volunteer ambassador to help spread the Visit with Respect message. As a volunteer, you will spend a few days a year (or more!) providing a friendly presence at the most frequently visited trails on Cedar Mesa and Comb Ridge. Enjoy the stunning scenery while you share pointers with others on how to explore this culturally and naturally rich are.

In exchange for your time hiking, Bears Ears Partnership will offer volunteer training and Visit with Respect attire. We’ll offer group hikes with experts a few times a year to help you get more familiar with Bears Ears. And, you’ll have the knowledge that your time and skills are helping to protect Bears Ears National Monument!

We offer volunteer training annually to educate you about the area, introduce you to other dedicated and passionate volunteers and staff, and give you practice on how to best interact with visitors in a wide variety of situations.
