Muley Point offers a sunset watching viewpoint unlike any other. From an elevation of 5,715 feet, you can see the Goosenecks of the San Juan River, Valley of the Gods, Monument Valley and Navajo Mountain. Muley Point is located in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area managed by the National Park Service. There are no facilities or water available at Muley Point.

Special Considerations

If taking the Moki Dugway, be prepared for 3 miles of steep (11% grade), winding, unpaved road with no guardrail. Muley Point currently has no facilities so be prepared to pack in water and pack out your trash. A medium clearance vehicle is needed.

  • Tips For Visiting Here with Respect
     Avoid Building Cairns

    Avoid Building Cairns

Building cairns can impact sensitive sites and are a form of vandalism to the natural world. You might not realize it, but some stacked stones may be ancestral shrines. Leave placement of trail directional signs and leveling of cairns to land managers.

     Guide Children Through Sites

    Guide Children Through Sites

Sacred cultural sites are not playgrounds. Teach children to respect these places so they can share them with future generations and become better stewards of the land. Keep a close eye on them so they don’t get hurt or accidentally damage cultural belongings.

     Use a Fire Pan

    Use a Fire Pan

Remember to check when and where fires are allowed. Ground fires leave scars on the landscape and a mess for the next visitor. Bring a fire pan or, at the very least, use existing fire rings. Wait until your ashes are cool to the touch and pack them out.
