BEP calendar2025 Cover CropIt’s that time again: Bears Ears Partnership is putting together our annual calendar, and we are looking for photos to feature!

Since 2015, the annual Bears Ears Partnership (formerly Friends of Cedar Mesa) calendar has highlighted the stunning scenery and the immense cultural significance of Southeast Utah to raise awareness for increased protections of this important cultural landscape and fundraise for our programs.

This year, the calendar will be highlighting the Bears Ears watershed, putting a spotlight on the region’s vital springs, seeps, and waterways that we are working to protect. We are looking for photos that celebrate the Bears Ears watershed from a variety of perspectives.

Some tips and guidelines for your photo submissions:

  • Photos should be landscape (not portrait) in dimension.
  • For now, you can send lower resolution files, but we will need the full-resolution version of the photo for printing: e.g. 11.25” x 8.75” (including bleeds) at 300dpi, with multiple megapixels here.
  • Color mode: CMYK
  • File type: jpg or tif
  • BEP reserves the right to color correct or resize the image to fit calendar needs. If we feel the need to crop your image, BEP will contact you for artistic approval.
  • We love to showcase photos from every season– we’re always looking for more autumn and winter snapshots.

We ask that you only send images of cultural sites that are considered “public sites” (designated by land management or by Indigenous partners). Public sites are as follows: River House, Bradford Ruin, Three Kiva Pueblo, Butler Wash Ruin Overlook and Trail, Mule Canyon Kiva, Arch Canyon Interpretive Site, House on Fire, Moonhouse, Junction Ruin, Turkey Pen, Split Level Ruin, Bannister Ruin, and Perfect Kiva. Please also refrain from sending pictures of pictographs or petroglyphs.

As visitors to the greater Bears Ears region, it is our responsibility to respect its natural and cultural resources both out of respect to the region’s Tribes and Pueblos, and for all visitors who come next. We ask that all visitors – photographers included – adhere to Visit With Respect guidelines, while out on the landscape. Practicing guidelines such as View Sites from a Distance, Steer Clear of Walls, and Don’t Bust the Crust are just a few ways that you can show your respect for the Bears Ears landscape and all who love it. Please remember that you’re responsible for not only the photos you take, but your actions in the field.
