Beef Basin Butterfly Count

Join BEP for a day of citizen science counting and celebrating local butterflies! You'll learn why they are important to the landscape, and how to identify different species and how to count them.

Bring: lunch, Snack, water, hiking boots, phones/camera, binoculars, day pack.

Ricky will provide guide booklets and butterfly nets.


8:30am: Meet up at Newspaper Rock, Indian Creek and travel to survey site at Beef Basin Road.

BEP will be providing transportation in our 15-person van. If you like to bring your own vehicle, please let Ricky know so we can plan accordingly.

9am – 2pm: Survey day around Beef Basin Road

Optional: Join an additional hike up Indian Creek, around 6 miles round trip. Bring waterproof shoes, day bag, water, warm coat, nightlight (headlamp) and extra snacks.
