Education Director
Sarah Burak has lived and worked in San Juan County since 2007. While living in beautiful Canyon Country, she has held multiple positions at the crossroads of education and public lands.
Sarah spent several years working with the Four Corners School of Outdoor Education and Canyon Country Outdoor Education leading youth field trips on public lands. She continued working with the National Park Service as an Interpretative Ranger at Natural Bridges National Monument and Canyonlands National Park and as an Administrative Support Assistant for the Southeast Utah Group. Introducing visitors from around the country and world to the unique beauty of the Colorado Plateau was one of the best parts of the job.
Looking to raise her educator credentials and return to youth education, Sarah earned a teacher’s certification and began teaching at Bluff Elementary. Being in the classroom taught her innumerable lessons about working with humans, young or old. Every day was new and challenging.
Following her time with Bluff Elementary, Sarah began work with Bears Ears Partnership as the Bears Ears Education Center Manager. She now lends her experience and passion as Education Director as she works to inspire people to admire and respect this amazing landscape.
Sarah lives in Bluff with her husband and baby girl.
