Since 2015, the annual Friends of Cedar Mesa calendar has highlighted the stunning scenery and the significant cultural history of southeast Utah in an effort to raise awareness for increased protections of this important cultural landscape.
These calendars are a fun way for supporters to help FCM fundraise for our education, stewardship. Plus, it’s a fun way to show off the artistic talents of our Friends!
It’s that time of year again to go through your favorite images of the Bears Ears region, and pick out a few to share with FCM. To have your images considered for the 2023 Friends of Cedar Mesa Calendar, please submit by August 3rd to
Some tips and guidelines for your photo submissions:
-Photos should be landscape (not portrait) in dimension.
-For now, you can send lower resolution files, but we will need the full-resolution version of the photo for printing: e.g. 11.25” x 8.75” (including bleeds) at 300dpi, with multiple megapixelshere.
-Color mode: CMYK
-File type: jpg or tif
-FCM reserves the right to color correct or resize the image to fit calendar needs. If we feel 
the need to crop your image, FCM will contact you for artistic approval.
-We love to showcase photos from every season– we’re always looking for more autumn and winter snapshots.
We ask that you only send images of cultural sites that are considered “public sites” (designated by land management or Indigenous partners). Public sites are as follows: River House, Bradford Ruin, Three Kiva Pueblo, Butler Wash Ruin Overlook and Trail, Mule Canyon Kiva, Arch Canyon Interpretive Site, House on Fire, Moonhouse, Junction Ruin, Turkey Pen, Split Level Ruin, Bannister Ruin, and Perfect Kiva. Please also refrain from sending pictures of cultural artifacts such as pictographs or petroglyphs.
Please specify in your email if you give Friends of Cedar Mesa permission to use your submitted image(s) for the organization’s marketing, advertising, and/or promotional purposes in addition to or instead of the 2023 Friends of Cedar Mesa Calendar.
Photographs will be chosen in August. If your photograph is selected, you’ll be notified by the end of the month!
