Today, December 28th, marks six years since the designation of Bears Ears National Monument by President Obama in 2016. Bears Ears is the first national monument ever created at the request of a coalition of Tribes, and designated to be collaboratively managed by federal agencies and Tribes.
Following last year's restoration, Monument Management Planning is now underway; and the submission of the Bears Ears Inter-Tribal Coalition's historic Tribal Land Management Plan (LMP) - with Traditional Knowledge at the center - represents another milestone in the co-management of Bears Ears National Monument.
