Dear Bears Ears Partnership community member,

As I reflect on 2023, the word momentum comes to mind. Working alongside Tribal partners, federal & state agencies, and all who support our mission, Bears Ears Partnership built upon the strong foundation of partnership that sits at the core of everything we do. I’m proud to report we expanded our advocacy, conservation, education, and field programs, bringing about a banner year for our organization.

Making a gift today not only shows your support for Bears Ears, but helps ensure we have the resources, team, and capacity to meet our ambitious goals and be effective on-the-ground stewards, educators, and advocates for this sacred landscape.

Today, on Giving Tuesday, we are given countless opportunities to show our generosity to the communities and causes we care most about - our inboxes and social media feeds are full, and it can be difficult to decide which of the many worthy causes is most important to you.

Maybe Bears Ears Partnership has already made the list of organizations you’d like to give to (if so, you can donate here). If you’re considering supporting our work, read on to learn how your contribution will be used and just how much impact your donation could have - thanks to the generosity of a donor who will match your gift 1:1, until December 31st!

Here is a snapshot of the major accomplishments our partners (that includes you!) made possible, in 2023:

  • Collaborating with Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps to plan and execute numerous high priority cultural site conservation projects and teaming up with Tribal partners to conduct a million dollar project to conserve and interpret Sand Island - one of the most important sites in the Monument.
  • Working alongside Tribal, agency, and NGO partners to achieve some major advocacy wins, including a landmark legal settlement preventing over 50,000 acres of Oil & Gas development in the Lands Between, in addition to the ill-conceived Utah lawsuit seeking to shrink Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments being tossed in District court.
  • Partnering with the Bears Ears Commission to garner national recognition of the Visit With Respect campaign, as well as with our amazing volunteers, educators, and Ancient Wayves to expand the offerings and impact of the Bears Ears Education Center, including implementing the inaugural Bears Ears Summer Camp.

And like we mentioned above, a generous donor has offered a $100,000 MATCHING GIFT CHALLENGE to inspire increased giving. Every donation until December 31st will be doubled which means your gift has double the impact.

YOU are an integral partner in making these successes possible and I hope you will join us with your support to carry this momentum into the new year.
